MOH Expands Malaria Vaccine Rollout  Nationwide Targeting Over 180,000 Children
The Government of Liberia extends sincere gratitude to the Vaccine Alliance (Gavi) and partners for their steadfast support in strengthening Liberia’s health system.

The Ministry of Health will on Friday, October 3, 2025, expand the rollout of the world’s first malaria vaccine (RTS,S/AS01) to nine (9) additional counties, a step in the nation’s stride for children survival.


The RTS,S/AS01 vaccine will be launched simultaneously at John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Montserrado and across Gbarpolu, Grand Cape Mount, Bomi, Grand Bassa, Margibi, Bong, Lofa, and Nimba. 


The campaign aims to immunize over 180,000 children. The vaccine  will be administered to children ages 5 to 15 months and requires four doses for maximum protection. The malaria vaccine was first introduced in 2024 across six southeastern counties, including Grand Gedeh, River Gee, Maryland, Grand Kru, Sinoe, and Rivercess, where early uptake has shown encouraging results.

The Minister of Health, Dr. Louise Mapleh Kpoto urges parents and caregivers to ensure children receive four dose of the malaria vaccine.
