Chinese Ambassador Yin Chengwu on January 7, 2026 turned over China-Aid Police Supplies Project to Liberia National Police as part of efforts to improve security across Liberia.    The event, held at the Liberia National Police Headquarters brought together Col. Gregory O.W. Coleman, Inspector General of the Liberia National Police, Counselor Zhang Yimin of Chinese Embassy, William K. Mulbah, Deputy Inspector General for Administration of Liberia National Police, and several other senior officers.

The donation, according to the Chinese Embassy in Liberia,  comes after a fruitful meeting held between the President of the People Republic of China and the President of Liberia during the recent Beijing Summit. “These police supplies are one of the outcomes of the meeting between President Xi Jinping and President Joseph Nyuma Boakai during the Beijing Summit of the Forum of China-Africa Cooperation,” Ambassador Yin noted. “They concretely demonstrate China's support for Liberia in strengthening its law enforcement capacity, reflect China’s commitment to supporting the ARREST agenda of the Liberian government,” Ambassador Yin added.

Before handing over the certificate and the cutting of ribbon for the assisted supplies, Chinese Ambassador further stated that the donation serves as a vivid demonstration of China-Liberia strategic partnership. “China remains committed to strengthening law enforcement cooperation with Liberia and promoting the development of China-Liberia strategic partnership,” the Chinese Ambassador said.   In response, the Inspector General of the Liberia National Police Col. Gregory Coleman expressed gratitude to the People Republic of China terming the gesture as a long-term strong support from the Chinese Government.

According to Col. Coleman, the supplies would meaningfully boost the operational capacity of the Liberian police. He reaffirmed Liberia’s firm adherence to the One-China Principle and support for China’s efforts to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity.   “On behalf of the Liberia National Police, we extend sincere appreciation to the People’s Republic of China through its Embassy in Monrovia for the donation of 90 motorbikes, police uniforms, and other essential operational equipment,” Col. Coleman posted on social media.

The Police Inspector General added, “We will continue to go all out to create and strengthen the necessary partnerships required to bring to life the professional, capable, and service driven police institution we envision for Liberia.”
