New Liberia head coach Mohammed A. Erradi has named a 25-man squad for the Lone Star’s international friendly double-header against Sierra Leone, with striker Kpah Sherman and centre-back Arago Jamal making long-awaited returns to the national team.
Liberia travel to Bo City to face the Leone Stars on June 5, 2026, before hosting the return leg at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex on June 9. The back-to-back Mano River Union derbies will close out Liberia’s June international window and serve as key tests ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The friendlies are part of both nations’ efforts to strengthen and assess their squads before the road to AFCON 2027 begins. Liberia will kick off its qualifying campaign away to Rwanda on September 21, 2026.Erradi’s first squad blends home-based talent with foreign-based pros, including several players returning to the national setup after long absences.
Headlining the recalls is Kpah Sherman, who earns his first call-up in three years. The 34-year-old striker last featured for Liberia in a 1-0 home defeat to Malawi in 2023. He was named in Mario Marinica’s first squad in 2024 but later withdrew for personal reasons.
Speaking to FIFA.com in September 2024, Sherman reaffirmed his commitment: “If I get the call, I’ll consider it again, but for now, I just want to focus on my club career and my family. But I’ve always been patriotic as a citizen. So, when I get the call, I’ll find the best way to answer. ”That call has now come. Sherman has spent most of his career in the Malaysian top flight, where he has tallied 64 goals and 21 assists in 125 appearances.
For the Lone Star, he has 2 goals in 21 caps. Also back in the fold is 32-year-old centre-back Arago Jamal, who returns after three years away. Jamal last wore the red, white, and blue in 2023 against Equatorial Guinea at the SKD. He currently plies his trade with Al-Ta’awon in the Libyan Premier League.
Meanwhile, defenders Sampson Dweh and Solomon Tweh miss out due to minor injuries. Both have been given time to rest and fully recover ahead of preseason with their clubs.
