The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has arrested two British nationals in possession of a significant quantity of illegal narcotics as part of its ongoing nationwide anti-drug operation, code-named Operation “Clean Wave. The arrest was carried out on December 11, 2025, at approximately 5:00 p.m., following a lawful search and seizure conducted under a duly issued warrant in the Baptist Seminary Community along the Roberts International Airport (RIA) Highway. 

The operation was led by the LDEA’s Deputy Officer-in-Charge for Operations, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Patrick Kormazu. The suspects have been identified as Zion Sufren, 25, and Joshua Ayopo Andrews, 28, both British nationals. During the operation, LDEA officers recovered 2.1 kilograms of cocaine and 2.1 grams of marijuana, commonly known as “Lawo.” According to the LDEA, the seized cocaine is estimated at a street value of USD 113,400.00, equivalent to approximately LRD 21,546,000.00, while the marijuana is valued at USD 20.10, equivalent to LRD 3,819.00. 

The total estimated value of the drugs seized amounts to USD 113,420.10 and LRD 21,549,819.00. In addition to the narcotics, the LDEA also confiscated assorted cash believed to be proceeds of drug trafficking. The seized cash includes USD 3,000.00, 50 Euros, and 40 pieces of assorted European coins. All items recovered during the operation have been documented and secured as evidence. Both suspects are currently in the custody of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency and are being investigated for illegal possession of narcotics and related offenses under Liberian law. 

Upon the completion of investigations, the suspects will be formally charged and forwarded to court for prosecution in accordance with the law. The LDEA reiterates its unwavering commitment to combating drug trafficking and transnational organized crime in Liberia. The Agency emphasized that Operation “Clean Wave” remains active and continues to yield results through intelligence-led policing, inter-agency collaboration, and community support. 

The LDEA also calls on members of the public to remain vigilant and to actively support national efforts to rid Liberia of illicit drugs. Citizens are encouraged to report suspicious activities and drug-related crimes through the LDEA’s established hotlines and reporting channels. The Agency assures the public that all credible information will be treated with strict confidentiality as it works to safeguard communities, protect young people, and uphold the rule of law.
