President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. has called on Liberians to strengthen unity, compassion, and national cooperation as the country continues its journey toward peace and development. The President’s message was contained in special remarks delivered on his behalf by House Speaker Richard Nagbe Koon during the 2026 Presidential Iftar Dinner marking the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan in Monrovia.Addressing members of the Muslim community, religious leaders, government officials, and other invited guests at the Executive Pavilion on Friday, President Boakai praised Liberia’s Muslim population for their longstanding contributions to the peace and stability of the country. 

He described Ramadan as a sacred period of reflection that promotes discipline, generosity, humility, and devotion to God. The President noted that although Muslims are a minority in Liberia, they remain a vital part of the nation’s social and economic life, contributing across communities, businesses, schools, and public institutions.The Liberian leader also emphasized the importance of religious harmony, saying the country’s strength lies in its diversity and shared commitment to peace. The Liberian Chief Executive noted that churches and mosques have historically played a major role in promoting reconciliation and tolerance, especially during difficult periods in Liberia’s history. 

He encouraged religious leaders to continue guiding young people toward discipline, integrity, and respect for one another while rejecting hatred, violence, and other negative influences that threaten national stability.President Boakai further reminded Liberians that the spirit of Ramadan goes beyond fasting and prayering,urging citizens to show compassion toward those facing hardship and to support one another as the country works to rebuild its economy and strengthen public institutions. The President reaffirmed his Administration’s commitment to creating opportunities for all Liberians regardless of religion or background and called for collective effort from citizens to move the nation forward.

The Presidential Iftar Dinner brought together a cross-section of national and international figures. Among those in attendance were the Doyen and members of the Diplomatic Corps, the Minister of State without Portfolio, Hadja Mamaka Bility, the Chief Imam of the Liberia, Imam Ali Krayee, the Muslim Religious Advisor to the President, Alhaji Sheikh Sheriff, the Political Leader of the All Liberian Coalition Party (ALCOP), Alhaji Lusinee Kamara, as well as several other prominent members and leaders of Liberia’s Islamic community.Closing his message, President Boakai prayed that Almighty Allah accepts the sacrifices and prayers of the Muslim community and grants peace, unity, and prosperity to Liberia."
