The Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Education, has officially broke ground for the construction of the Robertsport Hospitality and Tourism Training Center. This initiative is intended to support the development of the local tourism sector and enhance economic participation among residents. During the groundbreaking ceremony, the Minister of Education, Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah, stated that although Robertsport has experienced an increase in tourist arrivals, the resulting economic benefits have not been consistently retained within the local community.
The Minister indicated that the establishment of the training center is aimed at addressing this gap by providing targeted skills development for young people. The program is designed to align workforce capabilities with the demands of the growing tourism industry in the area. Dr. Jallah added that the facility will offer structured training programs in hospitality management, eco-tourism, and small business development. These programs are expected to improve employment prospects and promote entrepreneurial activities among beneficiaries.

The project is being implemented under the European Union-funded Youth Rising Project Phase II, with additional support from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). The total construction cost is estimated at US$806,721.67, with completion projected within a nine-month timeframe. The Ministry further noted that the initiative forms part of broader efforts to ensure that tourism-driven growth in Robertsport contributes to sustainable economic outcomes for the local population.
