GBARNGA-Police in Bong County have arrested and charged three young men in connection with an alleged armed robbery incident in Gbarnga.
The suspects have been identified as Robert Nuetah, 19; Dennis Tokpah, 25; and Daniel Garkpor, 21.
Speaking to journalists on Thursday, June 4, 2026 in Gbarnga, Mr. James Kartoe, Commander of the Crime Services Division (CSD) of the Liberia National Police Bong County Detachment, said the suspects have been formally charged with Armed Robbery and Theft of Property.
He noted that they are currently being detained at the Gbarnga Central Police Station pending court proceedings.
According to Commander Kartoe, the incident occurred during the night hours of Wednesday, June 3, 2026.
He explained that the suspects were arrested following a complaint from a female victim who reported being attacked while returning home from a local entertainment center known as "Place to Be Night Club" in Gbarnga.
Police said the suspects allegedly threatened the woman with knives and forcibly took her mobile phone and other valuable belongings before fleeing the scene.
Commander Kartoe said investigators later apprehended the three suspects and subsequently charged them based on the findings of the investigation.
Meanwhile, the police have announced plans to strengthen security measures across the county in response to growing concerns about robbery and other criminal activities.
Commander Kartoe said Bong County Police Commander William W. Johnson intends to deploy additional officers to areas considered crime hotspots in an effort to deter criminal activities and enhance public safety.
The case is expected to proceed through the court system, where the suspects will have the opportunity to respond to the allegations against them.
