Admist Allegations of Conspiracy; Representative Thomas Demands Report on Fatal Shara Community Fire

Admist  allegations of Conspiracy, Representative Montserrado County Electoral District # lawmaker, Rep. Michael M. Thomas  has formally requested the House of Representatives to mandate reports from three national institutions in connection with the devastating fire that engulfed the Shara Community on November 14, 2025. The call for action comes in the wake of mounting speculation and unease within his district, which has sparked public concern.


Following the fire incident, political commentator Justin Oldpa Yeazehn, commonly known as Prophet Key, made explosive claims. He linked Representative Michael Thomas, District #4, Montserrado County, to the tragic fire. This fire killed Duport Road Shara Community Chairlady Mrs. Deiode Davies Garnett, along with her two children and two grandchildren. Prophet Key's claims have increased public interest, and residents are now demanding a thorough investigation into the allegations.


The tragic  event is said to have occurred on November 14, 2025 that  claimed the lives of the  chairlady of Shara community Mrs. Deiode Garnette, her children Judee and Isaac Garnette, and two grandchildren, Christopher Freeman and Ruth Fleming. According to Rep. Thomas, the loss of lives and the circumstances surrounding the incident have fueled speculation and unrest within the Shara Community, prompting his decisive action.


In a communication addressed to the House, Representative Thomas emphasized the urgent need for a comprehensive submission of the fire report. He urged his colleagues to prioritize the matter, citing its significant impact on the affected community and the broader public interest. Representative Thomas has reaffirmed his call for the reports from the Liberia National Fire Service, the Liberia National Police, and the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC). While acknowledging the swift response of the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC), the Liberia Fire Service (LFS), and the Liberia National Police (LNP) in managing the incident.  Hon. Thomas has raised concerns over the lack of an official incident report, despite the tragedy occurring over three weeks ago.


He argued that the absence of a report has fueled speculation and finger-pointing within the district, causing confusion and misrepresentation. Hon. Thomas  stressed the urgent need for a transparent investigation to determine the cause of the fire and provide clarity to the grieving community, emphasizing the importance of dispelling rumors and restoring peace. "The loss of life in the Shara Community fire is a tragedy that demands a thorough and transparent investigation," Rep.  Thomas stated. "The families deserve answers, and the public deserves to understand the circumstances that led to this devastating event. The reports from these institutions are crucial for achieving that."


Following deliberation, the  House of Representatives has summoned the heads of Liberia National Fire Service, Liberia Electricity Corporation and Police I.G and Duport Deport Police Commander to   appear before plenary on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 to give the reports in the devastating fire incident. The outcome of their appearance is expected to provide the cause of the fire surrounding the Shara Community tragedy. The situation underscores the importance of institutional accountability and transparency, particularly in the aftermath of a community-wide disaster.
