Former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Dismisses Allegations of Supporting CDC'S Headquarters Project

Monrovia, Liberia – Former Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has strongly denied viral social media claims suggesting she provided financial and material support to the opposition Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) for the construction of its new headquarters. The allegations, which spread widely online, alleged that Sirleaf had contributed US$15,000 and several thousand bags of cement to the project. Speaking in a phone interview, the former president rejected the reports in emphatic terms.“I’m glad you said allegedly. I am here on the farm. Been here for three days.

Didn’t even know what’s going on in the city,” Sirleaf stated. “Those people who put this crap, this nonsense on social media, they must just love my name. They must just love me and can’t keep their mouth off me. And what they have just said is damn stupid.”Sirleaf insisted she has had no engagement with the CDC regarding support. “Never, never. No CDC person has reached me on no support. They have no reason to call me for support.

I’m busy with my things — my center, my farm. I’m out of their damn politics,” she added. The former president, who continues to run her foundation and promote development initiatives, expressed frustration over what she described as Liberia’s “sensational politics,” which she said often distracts from national progress.“It’s so doggone sickening,” she remarked.

“People want to do good things for the country, to promote the good part of the country, to support the president in everything he does if it’s in the interest of the country. But every day, somebody comes up with some nonsense. They’re so bored with laziness.” Sirleaf emphasized that her focus remains on reconciliation and national development, calling on Liberians to “just get to work” instead of fueling division.
