LNP RELEASES CRIME AND ACCIDENT REPORT FOR JULY 2025

The Liberia National Police (LNP), through its Press & Public Affairs Division, has released an update on major criminal cases across the country and the national accident statistics for July 2025. The report was presented by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Cecelia G. Clarke during the weekly Police Report program on ELBC Radio 99.9 FM, which airs every Friday at 8:30 a.m. Rape 

  • Montserrado County – Saah Thomas, alias “Starboy”, has been charged with Rape for sexually abusing a 5-year-old girl in the Perry Street Community on August 3, 2025. Police investigations revealed that Thomas lured the victim into his room and assaulted her using his finger. The charge is supported by a medical examination and the suspect’s voluntary admission. He has been forwarded to court for prosecution.
  • Grand Cape Mount County Oldman Dougbah49, was charged with Rape following the assault of a 12-year-old girl on March 30, 2025, in Bamballah Town. The victim was selling pepper when Dougbah pretended to be a customer, lured her into his home, and fled after committing the act. She received medical treatment at the Bamballah Clinic. The charges are backed by physical evidence and medical reports, and the suspect has been sent to court.

 Criminal Coercion & Disorderly Conduct 

  • Montserrado County – Lewis Karty has been charged for issuing threats and posting defamatory content against Monacan D. Wilson on social media on July 11, 2025. Physical evidence and Karty’s voluntary admission support the charges. He has been forwarded to court.

 Kidnapping 

  • Grand Cape Mount County – Hanggi Ishmeal Kamara and Alieu Pabia face charges in connection with the disappearance of Jebah Kermokai on July 14, 2024. Kamara was last seen traveling with the victim, while Pabia falsely claimed to have sighted Kermokai in Porkpa Town. Both suspects admitted to being with the victim at different points before his disappearance. They have been sent to court for trial.

 Possession and Sale of Lethal Objects 

  • Montserrado County – Amara J. Musa, 39, was found in possession of a single-barrel shotgun on March 2, 2025, in Parker Corner, Brewerville. Based on physical evidence and investigative findings, Musa has been charged and forwarded to court.

 Aggravated Assault & Theft of Property 

  • Montserrado County – Butu Kiadii, 30, was charged with Aggravated Assault and Theft of Property in Lakpazee, Sinkor, on July 30, 2025. According to police reports, victim Moses Tokpah returned to his tailor shop to find Kiadii packing his belongings. When Tokpah attempted to stop him, Kiadii assaulted him with a stick, injuring his left eye. The charges fall under Sections 14.20 and 15.51 of the Revised Penal Law of Liberia. The suspect has been sent to court.

 Murder 

  • Montserrado County – Vamuyah Sirleaf and Alieu Sirleaf are under investigation for the mob killing of Diayah Rennie on August 3, 2025, in Chicken Farm Community, Paynesville. The suspects, along with unidentified others, accused Rennie and his friends of stealing a mobile phone. Rennie was severely beaten and later pronounced dead at ELWA Hospital. His remains are at the JFK Mortuary. Both suspects are in custody pending court proceedings.

 July 2025 Road Accident Statistics The Liberia National Police also released its nationwide accident statistics for July 2025, recording a total of 138 road-related incidents. Breakdown of Reported Accidents: 

  • Car-to-Car Collisions – 51 cases
  • Motorcycle-to-Motorcycle – 15 cases
  • Car-to-Motorcycle – 24 cases
  • Car-to-Tricycle – 10 cases
  • Motorcycle-to-Pedestrian – 10 cases
  • Car-to-Pedestrian – 16 cases
  • Motorcycle-to-Tricycle – 3 cases
  • Tricycle-to-Pedestrian – 3 cases
  • Self-Accidents – 16 cases
  • Tricycle-to-Tricycle – 0 cases

 The figures underscore the urgent need for heightened road safety awareness, stricter adherence to traffic regulations, and improved vehicle maintenance across the country. LNP’s Call to Action The LNP continues to encourage community members to report crimes promptly, cooperate with police investigations, and practice vigilance to prevent criminal activity. Regarding road safety, the LNP reminds all road users including drivers, motorcyclists, tricycle operators, and pedestrians to: 

  • Obey traffic laws and signals
  • Avoid excessive speeding
  • Ensure regular vehicle maintenance
  • Refrain from operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol or drugs

“Public safety is a shared responsibility,” said DCP Cecelia G. Clarke during the broadcast. “We urge all Liberians to play their part by following the law, reporting suspicious activities, and prioritizing the safety of our communities.”
