Orange Foundation Donates Immunohistochemistry Machine to JFK

In a major step toward advancing cancer care in Liberia, the Orange Foundation has donated an Immunohistochemistry (IHC) machine to the John F. Kennedy Medical Center (JFKMC), Liberia’s premier referral hospital. The cutting-edge equipment will significantly enhance the hospital’s capacity to diagnose and treat various cancers, including breast cancer the most prevalent cancer among women in Liberia. The introduction of this advanced technology means that patients will no longer need to travel abroad for specialized cancer testing, which has long been a costly and burdensome barrier to timely treatment. Dr. Deddeh E.P. Supuwood, Head of the Oncology Department at JFKMC, expressed profound appreciation for the donation on behalf of the hospital and patients. “This Immunohistochemistry machine is a game-changer in the fight against cancer in Liberia,” she said. “It will not only improve diagnostic accuracy but also reduce the waiting time for results, allowing for earlier and more effective treatment.” The Immunohistochemistry technique allows doctors to identify specific types of cancer by detecting particular proteins in tissue samples essential for developing personalized treatment plans.
