Police Arrest and Charge Woman for Assaulting Officer in Sinkor

The Liberia National Police (LNP) has announced the arrest and formal charging of Mrs. Klady A. Paul, 67, for assaulting a police officer while on duty at the 12th Street intersection in Sinkor, Monrovia, on Tuesday, August 12, 2025. According to the LNP, Patrolman Koilous N. Larmin was performing his official duties when Mrs. Paul, a classroom teacher and church mother, allegedly approached him in a hostile manner. Witnesses reported that she engaged in an aggressive verbal exchange that quickly escalated into physical confrontation. The incident reportedly resulted in injuries to Patrolman Larmin and the destruction of a government-issued police communication radio. Following a thorough investigation, Mrs. Paul was charged under the Penal Code of the Republic of Liberia with Simple Assault Chapter 14, Section 14.21(A); Criminal Mischief Chapter 15, Section 15.5; and Disorderly Conduct Chapter 17, Section 17.3. She has since been forwarded to court for prosecution. In a statement, the LNP reaffirmed its zero-tolerance stance against any assault or obstruction of law enforcement officers. The police commended Patrolman Larmin for maintaining professionalism and restraint in the face of provocation. “This case sends a clear message: the law will be enforced without fear or favor,” the statement read. Sources confirmed that Mrs. Paul is the wife of Bishop Hilary Paul of the Monrovia Open Bible Church, located on the Old Road. The church is yet to release an official statement regarding the incident. The LNP reminded the public that police officers are mandated to maintain public safety and order and must be allowed to execute their duties without interference. Acts of aggression against law enforcement, the statement noted, undermine the rule of law and will be met with the full weight of legal consequences. The case has been turned over to the judicial system for due process in accordance with Liberian law.
