The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Richard Nagbe Koon, on Tuesday held a high-level meeting with the President of the Federation of Liberian Youth, Duku Jallah, to explore ways of strengthening collaboration between the Legislature and young people across Liberia. The engagement focused on practical strategies to close the gap between the youth population and the Legislature, while also reinforcing ongoing efforts to boost the Federation’s institutional strength and independence.
Speaking during the meeting, Speaker Koon stressed the need for inclusive governance, highlighting the importance of creating platforms that elevate the voices of young people in national discussions. He reaffirmed the Legislature’s commitment to recognizing youth as vital stakeholders in policymaking and governance.

Mr. Jallah, in response, welcomed the initiative and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to engage. He noted that stronger ties with the Legislature would enhance the Federation’s capacity to effectively advocate for and represent the interests of Liberia’s youth. The meeting reflects a growing acknowledgment of the Federation’s role as a key partner in promoting youth-centered governance and ensuring that young voices are actively included in shaping national decisions.
