The Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) has officially broken ground for the construction of its new national headquarters in Congo Town, marking a historic moment of renewal, unity, and resilience for Liberiaโs largest mass-based political movement. The groundbreaking ceremony, graced by thousands of partisans, sympathizers, and senior executives of the party, was led by H.E. George Manneh Weah, Political Leader of the CDC. The event symbolized a new beginning for the party following the recent demolition of its former headquarters along Tubman Boulevard. In his moving address, former President, George Weah, reaffirmed that the strength and spirit of the CDC do not reside in physical structures, but in the unwavering hearts and minds of its members across Liberia and beyond.
โCDC is not in the walls of the structure. CDC lives in our hearts and minds,โ he declared. โYou can break the bricks; you can break the walls; but we remain standing, steadfast in our love and commitment to the ideals of our dear institution. The party is supreme; the CDC is supreme.โ The former President and Political Leader also described the new headquarters project as a testament to the partyโs resilience and unity in the face of adversity. He lauded the dedication of partisans who have remained loyal through changing political tides and assured them that the CDC will continue to stand as a beacon of hope, democracy, and service to the Liberian people.
โThis is not just a con/struction project it is a symbol of our renewal. The CDC has endured trials, yet we have never faltered. We rise again because our vision is bigger than any wall or building,โ Weah added. Also speaking at the event, National Chairman of the Construction Committee, Rep. J. Fonati Koffa, praised the collective spirit of the partyโs supporters and emphasized that the new headquarters will serve as a center for innovation, youth empowerment, and political education. He disclosed that the new CDC Headquarters will include modern administrative offices, a multi-purpose conference hall, and facilities dedicated to research, policy development, and community engagement.
Several other party executives and youth leaders echoed the Political Leaderโs message of unity, resilience, and commitment to the CDCโs founding principles of peace, empowerment, and national development. The ceremony also concluded with a symbolic turning of the soil by Mr. Weah and key party officials, followed by cultural performances and patriotic songs reflecting the CDCโs deep connection with the Liberian grassroots. As construction begins, the CDC Leadership reaffirmed its dedication to strengthening democratic participation and advancing the cause of the Liberian people.
