The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association of Liberian Construction Contractors, ALCC, Mr. Christopher Bull, has spoken of plan for the construction of State of the Art Headquarters for the Association. Chairman Bull said finality of the headquarters project will be reached at the Association’s planned General Assembly expected to be held shortly. According to an ALCC release, Chairman Bull made the disclosure recently at the Gateway Vocational Training Center in Bensonville outside Monrovia during an assessment tour of the Association’s newly constructed fence to protect the perimeters of the headquarters.
The release quotes the ALCC Board Chair as commending the Government of Liberia for the passage of the Act which established the Association of Liberian Construction Contractors. At the same time, the ALCC Board and Management also held a successful meeting with the Administrator of Gateway Vocational Training Center (GVTC), Mr. Abraham Wowah. The ALCC is one of the three incorporators of GVTC. Others incorporators include the Engineering Society of Liberia (ESOL) and the Liberia Institutions of Architects, LIA. Mr. Bull also hailed the establishment of the GVTC, describing it as a feeder capacity building institution for construction contractors in Liberia and beyond, assuring the ALCC’s unrelenting support to achieve its goals.
Speaking earlier, GVTC Manager, Mr. Abraham Wowah, called on the incorporators to work together with oneness of purpose for the sustainability of the center’s programs. The GVTC, Mr. Wowah said, is providing services to young Liberians in the Technical Vocational Education Training (TVET) Sector in several disciplines to include Road Maintenance, Plumbing and Pipe Fitting, Electricity and Solar Installation, Carpentry, and Cabinet making, among others. In remarks, ALCC President, Mr. Sackie G. Johnson, expressed delight over the fencing project and thanked the contractor for the job well done in line with the specifications provided him.
“We are awaiting the retention period to provide the contractors final payment in three months”, Mr. Johnson noted. The ALCC President also re-echoed management’s earlier commitment to commence the construction of the headquarters for the Association upon its endorsement by the General Assembly.
