Noted Liberian thought leader, Cllr. Kanio Bai Gbala, Assistant Professor of Law at the Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law, University of Liberia, and Founder of the Centrism Movement, has commended President Joseph N. Boakai, Sr. for reinvigorating Liberia’s diplomatic and economic partnership with the United States. Cllr. Gbala said the recent high-level engagement between Hon. Sara Beysolow Nyanti, Liberia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio focusing on expanded American investment in Liberia’s critical minerals sector marks “a powerful signal of restored trust, renewed friendship, and shared commitment to Liberia’s economic transformation.” 

“President Boakai’s leadership is reopening doors of strategic cooperation with our oldest ally. The United States’ interest in Liberia’s critical minerals sector reflects confidence in this administration’s integrity and vision for sustainable growth,” Cllr. Kanio Bai Gbala, Assistant Professor of Law & Founder, The Centrism Movement. He praised Minister Beysolow Nyanti for her diplomatic stewardship and lauded Secretary Rubio’s commitment to deepening U.S. participation in Liberia’s investment landscape, noting that such partnerships could translate into jobs, infrastructure, and inclusive growth for Liberians. 

“This new phase of U.S.–Liberia engagement must be anchored in transparency, mutual respect, and national interest. It’s a win not just for diplomacy, but for the Liberian people,” Cllr. Gbala emphasized. He concluded by urging the government to consolidate these gains through clear policy reforms and investor-friendly governance, ensuring that renewed U.S. interest yields tangible benefits for ordinary citizens across Liberia.
