Former Minister of State for Presidential Affairs under former President George Manneh Weah, Hon. George Wesseh Blamoh, has officially established a new political movement under the banner of the Liberian Alternative People’s Party (LAPP). The new political institution, which seeks to provide a fresh vision for Liberia’s governance and development, has successfully convened its first National Convention in Monrovia. During the convention over the weekend, which brought together delegates from across the fifteen counties, Hon. Blamoh was formally elected as the Political Leader of the party.
The event marked the beginning of what he described as “a new era of people-centered politics, accountability, and national renewal.” In his keynote address, Hon. Blamoh outlined the vision and principles of the Liberian Alternative People’s Party, emphasizing inclusivity, youth empowerment, economic transformation, and strong local governance. “The LAPP represents a new beginning for Liberia a movement built on integrity, innovation, and inclusion,” Hon. Blamoh declared. “We believe that Liberians deserve a government that listens to their concerns, values their contributions, and delivers on its promises.
Our mission is to restore hope, build trust, and promote shared prosperity.” The newly established party pledged to focus on policies that address unemployment, rural development, education reform, and economic diversification. Hon. Blamoh also called on Liberians from all walks of life to join the movement, regardless of political, religious, or ethnic affiliation. “We are building a political home for every Liberian who believes that the time has come for honest leadership and people-driven progress,” he said. The convention concluded with the election of national executives and the adoption of the party’s constitution and manifesto, which will guide its political and governance agenda in the coming years.
