The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has made a major breakthrough in its ongoing fight against illicit drug trafficking with the arrest of 23-year-old Justine Roberts, following the discovery of 1,374 strips of Tramadol concealed inside a blue Nissan Amaria at Bo-Waterside. The confiscated substances, with an estimated street value exceeding L$2 million, were uncovered during a joint security operation conducted by LDEA officers stationed at the Liberia–Sierra Leone border point. The suspect, Roberts, is currently in custody and undergoing investigation pending formal court action.

According to LDEA authorities, the seizure underscores the agency’s heightened vigilance and commitment to intercepting illegal drugs entering or transiting through the country’s borders. The operation also reflects the agency’s ongoing collaboration with border security units in curbing cross-border trafficking and protecting communities from the dangers of drug abuse. In a related development, LDEA officers in Caldwell have confiscated a consignment of marijuana mixed with peanuts, reportedly owned by 26-year-old Dorothy Magee. The seized narcotics, valued at approximately L$127,000, mark the second major drug interception in the Caldwell area in just two weeks. Both cases form part of the LDEA’s nationwide effort to dismantle networks of traffickers and smugglers who continue to threaten Liberia’s youth and public safety.

The LDEA has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to enforcing drug laws across Liberia and has called on citizens to remain vigilant by reporting suspicious activities that may be linked to drug trafficking or abuse. “The fight against illegal drugs requires the cooperation of every Liberian,” an LDEA spokesperson said. “We encourage communities to continue sharing information that will help us protect our nation’s future.” The Agency has vowed to pursue all suspects involved and ensure that justice is served in accordance with Liberian law.
