The Liberia National Red Cross Society (LNRCS), through its Youth and Volunteer Development Commission, in partnership with the Yayeh Initiative, has extended vital educational support to more than 70 schoolchildren in Bentol City, Montserrado County. The initiative aims to nurture the next generation of humanitarian leaders through acts of compassion and community service. Beneficiaries from Youth Camp Public School, Gbokolleh Elementary Public School, and Elder John T.T. Gayflor Daycare School received book bags, copybooks, pencils, and shoes.
The donation, though modest, carried a profound message of hope for children struggling to stay in school amid economic hardship. Ms. Grace Weah, National Youth Representative and Chairperson of the LNRCS Youth and Volunteer Development Commission, described the outreach as part of the Red Cross’s broader mission to inspire young humanitarian leaders. “Every act of kindness plants a seed for a better society,” she said. “By supporting children today, we’re investing in the future in leaders who will embody the values of humanity, service, and solidarity.”
The partnership with the Yayeh Initiative Inc., a youth-led organization focused on education and empowerment, was praised by its Executive Director, Ambassador Yayehsorie Jalloh, as a model of collaboration for social change. “Working with the Red Cross demonstrates the power of partnership for humanity,” Amb. Jalloh stated. “When we equip children with the tools to stay in school, we’re investing in the human capital that drives national development.” Local school administrators hailed the intervention as timely and impactful.
Mrs. Maryann Z.T. Mboma, Principal of Elder John T.T. Glayflor Memorial Sanctuary of Praise Academy, expressed gratitude to the Red Cross and its partners for easing the burden on struggling parents. The Liberia National Red Cross continues to strengthen school clubs across the country, fostering youth leadership, humanitarian values, and community resilience. Through initiatives like this, the organization remains committed to empowering Liberia’s young generation with compassion, service, and a shared sense of humanity.
