The Monrovia City Corporation (MCC) has issued a directive mandating all residents, property owners, and business operators within the City of Monrovia to paint or repaint their buildings on or before December 15, 2025. The measure, according to the Corporation, is in strict adherence to City Ordinance Number 1, Section 6, which requires property owners to maintain the cleanliness and appearance of their premises. The move is part of the City Government’s broader efforts to beautify the capital, promote civic pride, and ensure Monrovia presents a clean and welcoming environment ahead of the Christmas and New Year festivities.

The MCC noted that the new directive is intended not only to enhance the city’s aesthetic appeal but also to encourage residents to take greater responsibility for maintaining the overall hygiene and attractiveness of their surroundings. “We want Monrovia to reflect the beauty, pride, and culture of its people,” an MCC spokesperson said. “This initiative is about restoring dignity to our communities and creating a city we can all be proud of.” To ensure effective implementation, the Monrovia City Government has established a special enforcement taskforce that will be deployed across all communities to monitor compliance.

The taskforce will operate with full authority to enforce the ordinance without fear or favor, ensuring that both residential and commercial structures meet the City’s standards. The MCC emphasized that December 15, 2025, remains the firm deadline for compliance. Property owners and businesses who fail to meet this requirement will face a non-negotiable fine of USD 150, as stipulated by city regulations. The Corporation is therefore urging all residents to begin repainting efforts immediately to avoid penalties and to contribute to the city’s ongoing beautification and sanitation drive. “Together, we can build a cleaner, brighter, and more beautiful Monrovia,” the release concluded.
