The President of the Republic of Liberia, His Excellency Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has on behalf of the Government and people of the Republic of Liberia, and in his own name, extended warmest congratulations to Her Excellency Catherine Connolly, President-elect of the Republic of Ireland, on her resounding and well-deserved election as President of the Republic of Ireland.  According to a Foreign Ministry release, President Boakai stated that her overwhelming victory reflects the trust, confidence, and admiration that the Irish people have in her vision, leadership, and unwavering dedication to advancing equality, inclusion, and progress for all.

“As you assume this high office, I wish to assure you of Liberia's readiness to work closely with you and the people of Ireland in fostering global peace, mutual respect, and sustainable development”, The Liberian leader stressed. He added that Liberia's upcoming tenure as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council is firmly anchored in the commitment to champion the empowerment of women, children, and marginalized populations. He indicated that Madam Connolly lifelong work in promoting women's rights, empowerment, and diversity provides a natural rallying point for greater collaboration between our two nations in advancing these shared values on the global stage.

A Foreign Ministry release says President Boakai also paid tribute to the outgoing President, His Excellency Michael D. Higgins, a formidable global statesman whose principled leadership has guided Ireland with grace and wisdom. He stressed that under President Higgins's stewardship, Ireland and Liberia strengthened their diplomatic relations and deepened cooperation in various spheres of mutual interest and that his government look forward with optimism to further consolidating these close and friendly ties under her leadership.

President Boakai then wished Madam President-elect good health, strength, and prosperity as she prepares to assume the mantle of leadership, and wish her tenure bring continued peace, unity, and prosperity to the people of Ireland.
