The newly inaugurated Chairman of the Union of Nimba Students in East Africa (UNSEA), Mr. Brooks K. Gunbeah, has called on Nimba Students across East Africa to remain united and work together for a common goal. Speaking during the union inauguration ceremony in Kigali, Rwanda Mr. Gunbeah urged students to strengthen collaboration among themselves and work with key stakeholders back home in Liberia. He noted, true progress can only be achieved when Nimbians support each other, both in Education and development. Chairman Gunbeah emphasized that the Union must serve as a bridge between students and the larger Nimba community.
He promised to lead with transparency and inclusiveness while promoting programs that will empower students academically. Guest speaking at the program, Nimba County Senator, Hon. Samuel G. Kogar urge the newly inducted leadership to lead with fairness and inclusiveness void of corruption. Senator Kogar called on the young leaders to practice fairness and promote equal opportunities for every member, regardless of their background. He made available US$2,000 to the leadership and affirmed his fullest support to the Union for students empowerment. Kogar commended the Vice President of Liberia, Hon. Jeremiah Kpan Koung, for his dedication to youth development.
Senator Kogar revealed that he believes in the Vice President leadership and assured that efforts will be made to secure scholarship opportunities for Nimba Students in East Africa. Meanwhile, Hon. R. Matenokay Tigbahn, speaking on behalf of VP Koung as Chief Launcher, donated US$1,000 to UNSEA. He used the occasion to called for unity and solidarity among all Nimbaians, thus urging them not to undermine one another, and reaffirmed VP Koung commitment to supporting Nimba Students abroad. He further announced that Nimba Students in East Africa will have a seat and decision-making power within the Nimba Solidarity Movement. The ceremony marks Nimba first ever diaspora based students Union leadership induction.
