
The 2024–25 edition of the ArcelorMittal Liberia Cup kicked off today in grand and fashionable style across Nimba, Grand Bassa, and Bong counties, with three exciting matches played in the opening round.
At the Doris Williams Sports Pitch in Buchanan, District #1 launched their campaign impressively with a comfortable 3–0 victory over District #2. Over at the David Kuyon Sports Pitch in Bong County, District #1 powered past District #2 with a commanding 4–1 win in the tournament’s first fixture for the county. Meanwhile, at the Gompa Sports Pitch in Nimba County, District #8 secured their first triumph of the competition, defeating District #9 by a score of 2–0.
All match venues were filled with thousands of enthusiastic supporters from the various competing districts, creating a vibrant and energetic atmosphere. The tournament will continue tomorrow and throughout the week, with more exciting fixtures lined up. A total of 21 electoral districts from the three counties are participating in this year’s competition. ArcelorMittal Liberia is partnering with the Liberian Football Association and the Sports Writers Association of Liberia to organize this year’s edition of the tournament.
