Raji Scores Major Political Victory as Stakeholders Confirm LFA Standing Committees

In a significant consolidation of power ahead of the 2026 elections, the Liberia Football Association (LFA) held an Extraordinary Congress on Sunday, February 22, 2026, where 40 stakeholders voted unanimously to confirm members of the Association's vital judicial and oversight bodies.

The 100% approval rate from the 40 members present effectively silences weeks of internal dissent and sets a stable foundation for the upcoming leadership transition. The confirmed bodies include the Judicial, Audit and Compliance, Club Licensing, and Elections committees.

The confirmed committees will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of the sport. The Congress, held in Monrovia, surpassed its required quorum with 34 of 49 voting members answering the initial roll call. The event drew a high-profile crowd, including: Government Officials, Sports Leaders, Media & Observers.

During the session, seven newly promoted clubs were officially admitted and took their oaths of office as full members of the LFA. These include Third Division sides Tap Tap FC, Small Town FC, and Liberian Falconet, alongside promoted Second Division clubs Gedeh FC, Wein Town FC, SUSA FC, and Golden Dream.

The Extraordinary Congress serves as the final major hurdle before the Elective Congress, officially scheduled for April 18, 2026, in Harper City. Speaking at the Congress, LFA President Mustapha I. Raji calls on delegates to stay focused and make decisions that will impact the football Association of Liberia.

"Do not be misled. There will be individuals among us who do not want the LFA to succeed," President Mustapha Raji warned the delegates, urging them to stay focused on the development of the game rather than personal agendas. The April elections are expected to be the most competitive in recent history. Current President Mustapha Raji is seeking a third term, emphasizing a platform of continuity and infrastructure development. He is set to face a challenge from Cassell Kuoh, president of FC Fassell, who has called for an end to "white ballot" (uncontested) elections and is campaigning on a platform of reform and transparency.

With the electoral and judicial bodies now firmly in place, the stage is set for a pivotal moment that will determine the future direction of Liberian football.
