The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China H.E. Chengwu Yin, has reaffirmed his country’s commitment to supporting Liberia’s youth and sports sector during a courtesy visit to Atty. Cornelia W. Kruah, Minister of Youth and Sports. The meeting, held at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation, sustaining ongoing initiatives, and exploring new opportunities to empower Liberia’s young population—the largest demographic group in the nation. Ambassador Yin praised the strong partnership between China and Liberia, noting that youth empowerment and sports development are critical areas of collaboration.

He emphasized China’s willingness to continue investing in programs that directly benefit Liberian youth. Minister Kruah, in her remarks, acknowledged China’s longstanding contributions to Liberia’s development. She highlighted landmark initiatives such as the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) program in bamboo weaving, the construction of the Samuel Kanyon Doe (SKD) Sports Complex in 1986, and the establishment of the Monrovia Vocational Training Center (MVTC). These projects, she said, have provided vital platforms for skills training, sports excellence, and youth empowerment. “On behalf of the Government of Liberia, we extend our gratitude to Ambassador Yin and his team for their unwavering support,” Minister Kruah stated.

“China’s partnership remains crucial in advancing vocational training, sports infrastructure, and empowerment programs that directly benefit our young people.” The meeting concluded with both sides expressing a shared vision to build on past achievements while opening new avenues for collaboration. They agreed that empowering Liberia’s youth is central to national development and pledged to continue working together to create pathways for future opportunities.
