MONROVIA, LIBERIA – The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MoPT) has commenced an intensive nationwide technical training program for more than 400 Liberian enumerators as part of the Government of Liberia’s ambitious National Digital Postal Address System (NDPAS) Project.
The training, which officially began in Montserrado County, marks a major milestone in Liberia’s ongoing digital transformation efforts and aims to establish a modern digital addressing system that will provide every home, business, institution, and public facility with a unique digital address.
Speaking at the opening of the training, Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Hon. Sekou M. Kromah, described the National Digital Postal Address System as a transformative initiative designed to modernize Liberia’s addressing framework and improve the delivery of essential services across the country.
According to Minister Kromah, the project will address longstanding challenges associated with location identification and accessibility, while creating opportunities for improved governance, emergency response services, postal operations, e-commerce growth, urban planning, and investment promotion.
"The successful implementation of the National Digital Postal Address System will significantly improve the way citizens, businesses, and government institutions interact and access services," Minister Kromah said. "A functional digital addressing system is essential for national development and for positioning Liberia within the global digital economy."
The minister emphasized that training over 400 young Liberians demonstrates the Ministry’s commitment to building local capacity and ensuring that Liberians play a leading role in implementing one of the country's most significant digital infrastructure projects.
The week-long program is equipping participants with skills in digital mapping technologies, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), mobile data collection, address verification, quality assurance procedures, geo-referencing, and field data collection methodologies. Enumerators are also participating in practical field exercises to prepare them for deployment across Liberia’s fifteen counties.
Montserrado County was selected as the starting point for the initiative due to its high population density and strategic importance. Following the completion of the training on June 12, 2026, the newly trained enumerators will begin the nationwide rollout of the project, with activities gradually extending to all counties.
Officials say the National Digital Postal Address System will revolutionize how locations are identified throughout Liberia, making it easier for citizens to access public services, businesses to operate efficiently, and emergency responders to locate individuals and communities more quickly.
As implementation moves forward, the Ministry is calling on citizens, community leaders, local authorities, and stakeholders across the country to cooperate with enumerators and support the success of the historic initiative.
The National Digital Postal Address System is expected to serve as a cornerstone of Liberia’s broader digital transformation agenda, helping to build a more connected, accessible, and technologically advanced nation.
