The Mayor of the Monrovia City Corporation, John-Charuk Siafa, has renewed calls for urgent urban transformation in the capital following a high-level meeting with Mustapha Njie, Chief Executive Officer of TAF Africa Global. The meeting, held on Monday, focused on advancing a robust public-private partnership aimed at accelerating development across Monrovia. Mayor Siafa stressed the importance of moving swiftly from planning to implementation, urging both sides to fast-track modalities that will bring tangible change to the city.

Mr. Njie is currently in Liberia at the invitation of President Joseph Nuymah Boakai, as part of efforts to explore investment opportunities in the country’s housing sector. His visit signals growing international interest in Liberia’s urban development prospects. TAF Africa Global, a leading Pan-African real estate firm with operations in multiple countries including Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and The Gambia, is spearheading an ambitious initiative to construct one million affordable, high-quality homes across Sub-Saharan Africa by 2063, in line with the African Union’s long-term development agenda.

Discussions between the Mayor and the TAF CEO centered on identifying key areas for redevelopment, particularly informal settlements and the Mesurado Waterfront, which the city authorities consider critical zones for transformation. Mayor Siafa emphasized that revitalizing these communities would not only improve living conditions but also stimulate economic growth and enhance the overall urban landscape.

“Working together, we want to begin by transforming one community at a time into a modern urban space,” the Mayor stated, highlighting the city’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable development.
He noted that a strategic overhaul of slum communities would breathe new life into underserved areas, foster economic opportunities, and improve the quality of life for residents. For his part, Mr. Njie expressed strong confidence in Liberia’s housing potential, assuring city authorities of TAF Africa Global’s long-term commitment to the country. He revealed plans to tour Liberia over the next six days to better understand the investment climate and identify viable project sites.

“Mr. Mayor, with the President’s endorsement, TAF Africa is here to stay and we are ready to deliver,” Njie affirmed, pledging to leave a lasting impact on Liberia’s housing sector. Both parties agreed to convene further technical discussions and conduct site visits in the coming days, a move aimed at translating strategic plans into concrete development projects.
