LRA Welcomes Sierra Leonean Customs Delegation for Knowledge Exchange

Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) on Tuesday welcomed a high-level six-member delegation from the National Revenue Authority (NRA) of Sierra Leone for a four-day working visit aimed at deepening regional collaboration and learning best practices in customs modernization. The visiting delegation is led by Mr. Tennyson Bio, Commissioner of Customs Services at the NRA. The focus of the visit is to study Liberia’s implementation of ASYCUDA World an automated customs system developed by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) which has helped streamline customs processes, improve trade facilitation, and increase domestic revenue collection. Welcoming the team during an official ceremony at the LRA Headquarters in Paynesville, Commissioner General James Dorbor Jallah emphasized the importance of regional cooperation in building strong, technology-driven revenue systems. “This visit reflects our shared vision for customs modernization and enhanced domestic resource mobilization across the region,” Commissioner General Jallah said. “We are proud to share our experiences and to learn from each other in the spirit of mutual growth and innovation.” Over the course of the visit, the NRA delegation will engage with LRA technical teams, tour major customs sites including the Freeport of Monrovia, and observe firsthand how Liberia is leveraging ASYCUDA World to drive efficiency, transparency, and compliance in customs administration. Commissioner Tennyson Bio expressed appreciation for the warm reception and looked forward to a fruitful knowledge exchange. “We are impressed by Liberia’s progress in customs automation and we believe this visit will provide valuable insights as Sierra Leone works to further modernize its own systems,” he said. This exchange not only strengthens the relationship between the LRA and the NRA but also reinforces Liberia’s emerging role as a leader in digital transformation and innovation within the West African region.
