The leadership of the House of Representatives, under Speaker Richard Nagbe Koon, has acquired two additional buses, bringing the institution’s staff transportation fleet to four. The buses will be used to transp ort staffers to and from work, significantly improving their commuting experience. The new additions complement the two buses previously procured by the leadership, demonstrating Speaker Koon’s continued commitment to staff welfare. The purchase also includes a sport utility vehicle (SUV), which will be assigned to one of the Directors. Speaker Koon emphasized that the welfare of staffers remains a top priority for the leadership of the House, noting that they are the “foundation of the First Branch of Government.” “Staffers in the Legislature are critical to the smooth functioning of our democracy. They deserve decency and support in their work environment, because when their needs are met, the work of the nation moves more smoothly and efficiently,” the Speaker said. The arrival of the buses at the Capitol Building courtyard was met with jubilation, with staffers singing praises in honor of Speaker Koon’s leadership, calling him “a man of his word.” Many expressed gratitude for the initiative, saying it will ease their daily transportation challenges. The move aligns with the leadership’s broader vision of ensuring staff productivity through improved working conditions and logistics support.
