Solomon George, the former Representative of Montserrado County District #7 and once a prominent member of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), has publicly praised President Joseph N. Boakai, describing him as a “genuine servant leader” devoted to improving the lives of the Liberian people. Speaking as a guest on a local television talk show in Monrovia, George drew sharp contrasts between President Boakai’s leadership style and that of his predecessor, former President George M. Weah. He accused Weah of adopting an authoritarian approach to governance during his time in office, claiming that such a style undermined democratic values and the interests of ordinary citizens. “President Boakai leads with humility, empathy, and an open heart for his people. He is not just a politician; he is a servant of the people, committed to listening and responding to the needs of communities across Liberia,” George stated. The former lawmaker said that, unlike Weah, President Boakai engages constructively with diverse political voices and stakeholders, fostering dialogue rather than division. He pointed to the administration’s focus on tackling pressing issues such as economic recovery, infrastructure development, healthcare, and education as signs of a responsive and people-centered government. George also praised Boakai’s accessibility and willingness to address citizens’ concerns directly, saying this approach builds trust and strengthens Liberia’s democratic foundations. “Leadership is about service, not self-interest,” George said. “President Boakai has demonstrated that he understands this principle and is working tirelessly to deliver for the people of Liberia.” Reflecting on his time in the Legislature, George noted that strong leadership requires both vision and compassion—qualities he believes President Boakai embodies. He urged Liberians to support the administration’s initiatives aimed at national development, stressing that unity and cooperation are key to overcoming the country’s challenges. The outspoken former lawmaker’s remarks have sparked political debate, particularly within circles loyal to former President Weah. However, George maintained that his comments were grounded in his personal observations and commitment to speaking truthfully about Liberia’s leadership needs. George concluded his remarks by encouraging President Boakai to remain steadfast in his principles of transparency, accountability, and service, noting that these values are essential to restoring public confidence in government.
