In a strongly worded statement, the House of Representatives has issued a rebuttal to recent media reports suggesting an internal plot to unseat Deputy Speaker Thomas P. Fallah. In an official statement released Thursday, the Legislature condemned the allegations as “unfounded, baseless, and politically motivated.” The reports, which claimed that a faction within the House was maneuvering to replace Fallah with Hon. Sekou Kanneh, were described by lawmakers as “pure fabrication and political gossip.” The House emphasized that no formal or informal discussions, resolutions, or plans exist regarding the removal of the Deputy Speaker.
Amid the controversy, the House clarified that Speaker Hon. Richard Nagbe Koon and Executive Committee Chairman Hon. Sekou Kanneh are currently abroad on official legislative duties. In their absence, Deputy Speaker Fallah is fulfilling the role of Acting Speaker, a position he has assumed with the full confidence of his colleagues.
Deputy Speaker Fallah, who has served in the Liberian Legislature since 2005, is widely regarded as one of its most experienced members. Often referred to as the “Doyen of the Legislature,” Fallah commands respect across party lines and continues to enjoy unwavering support from Speaker Koon and the broader House membership.
The House urged media institutions to uphold ethical standards and avoid the dissemination of misinformation. “We call on the media to uphold professional and ethical journalism, rather than engaging in the circulation of propaganda,” the statement read.
Reaffirming its dedication to national service, the House concluded by emphasizing its commitment to integrity, focus, and unity in serving the Liberian people.
