CDC Eviction Date Released

The owner of the property housing the Headquarters of the Congress for Democratic Change(CDC) in Congo Town, outside Monrovia is demanding the CDC leadership to vacate on or before June 10,2025 or risk eviction. This follows the Supreme Court’s May 28, 2025 opinion that led to the dismissal of the Bill of Information filed by the legal team of the CDC, which was seeking to prevent the Subordinate Court Judge from implementing the Supreme Court 2016 judgment against their removal. In a communication dated June 2,2025 to the National Chairman of CDC, Atty. Janga Kowo through owner lawyer Cllr. Johnny Momoh said that the tenancy on its property is undesirable, and is therefore demanding them to surrender the property.

The communication, according to our Judicial Correspondent, also mentioned that the four point two three acres of land that is occupied by the CDC, be turned over on or before June 10, failure to do so summary proceedings to recover possession of real property against CDC, demand accrued rent at the rate of US 100 thousand per year, and also damages for the wrongful withholding of its property will be instructed to compel their exit as provided by law. However, the leadership of the CDC is yet to response to the property owner communication dated June 2, 2025. Our Judicial Correspondent further said that the property owner hoped that the leadership of the CDC will abide by their demand contained in their June 2, 2025 communication to them to peacefully surrender their property to avoid another litigation.
