Moore, the party will hold its National Convention from October 3–5, 2025, in Margibi County.

The move is in line with the ANC Constitution and comes as part of efforts to strengthen internal democracy, renew leadership mandates, and prepare the party for the 2029 general and presidential elections. The Convention Preparatory Committee has opened the registration process for aspirants from September 9–30, 2025, between the hours of 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. daily at the party’s National Headquarters in Congo Town, Monrovia. The registration exercise will be supervised by the Steering Committee on Finance and Elections, which will also process membership dues and other requirements. The deadline for registration is Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. Campaign activities will run concurrently until October 4, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. at the convention venue in Margibi County.

As outlined in the CPC’s guidelines, all aspirants are required to fulfill specific registration requirements, including the payment of a registration fee, proof of membership dues payment, clearance from the party’s Secretariat, and the submission of two passport-size photographs. The registration fees vary by position, with the Political Leader slot set at US$750, the National Chairman at US$500, and other vice chair and secretary positions ranging between US$150 and US$250. The National Treasurer and Deputy Secretary General positions each require a fee of US$200.

The CPC has also established a process for resolving grievances or disputes related to the convention. According to the statement, all protests concerning aspirants or committee members must be filed with the CPC Chairman for review by the full body prior to the convention. Cases will then be referred to the National Grievance and Ethics Committee, which will investigate and submit findings within five days before the convention. The committee’s findings will be forwarded to the National Convention for final action on candidate eligibility.

The declaration of all positions vacant, including that of Political Leader, marks a historic moment for the ANC. It opens the door for robust internal competition and leadership renewal at a time when Liberia’s political landscape is preparing for future elections. Chairman Moore emphasized in the statement that the process reflects the ANC’s commitment to its constitution and democratic values. “By following the letter and spirit of our party constitution, we are ensuring that leadership within the ANC is decided by the will of the delegates. This process is essential to building a strong, transparent, and people-centered political institution,” he stated.

The ANC, which emerged as one of the leading opposition parties in the 2023 general elections, has remained a critical voice in Liberia’s political discourse. With the declaration of vacancies and preparations for its October convention, the party seeks to reinvigorate its structures, attract new leadership talent, and position itself as a credible alternative to the ruling establishment. The October convention is expected to draw delegates from across Liberia’s 15 counties as well as representatives from the ANC diaspora chapters.

Observers note that the election of a Political Leader will be closely watched, given the party’s high-profile role in recent political debates and its potential influence on opposition unity in the run-up to 2029. The ANC statement concluded with a call for unity, transparency, and active participation by all members, stressing that the convention would mark “a turning point in the consolidation of the party’s democratic journey.”
