Normal academic activities at the William V.S. Tubman High School came to an abrupt halt on Thursday morning after students and staff were shocked to discover blood stains along major corridors and inside classrooms of the school. The unsettling discovery occurred just as students arrived on campus and prepared to begin their day. Teachers and administrators were equally stunned by the sight of blood splattered across walls and floors in one of the school’s main classroom buildings. Eyewitnesses reported scenes of panic and confusion, with some students reportedly fainting after encountering the disturbing sight. Two students were said to have fallen unconscious, allegedly due to a "spiritual encounter" triggered by the experience, according to classmates.
In immediate response to the chaos, the Monrovia Consolidated School System (MCSS), which oversees Tubman High, ordered an emergency evacuation of all students. MCSS Communications Director, Samuel Nyenuh, later announced that the school would remain closed until Monday as investigations continue. "Preliminary reports from campus security indicate that the blood stains may be connected to an attempted break-in overnight," said Nyenuh. "Security officers reportedly chased off intruders, who left behind the blood trails as they fled the scene." The Liberia National Police has been called in to conduct a full investigation into the incident.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the identity or number of suspects involved, nor whether anyone was injured during the alleged break-in attempt. Meanwhile, students took to social media, expressing fear and frustration over the lack of information. Many are calling on school authorities to provide clarity and assurance before they return to class. “We will not sit in any of these classes. We don’t know what is happening here,” one student posted online, reflecting the widespread anxiety among the student body. This incident marks a troubling disruption at one of Monrovia’s most prominent public high schools. As investigations unfold, parents, students, and staff are left waiting for answers and hoping for swift action to restore safety and normalcy to their campus.
