The Ministry of Education today welcomed His Excellency Roey Gilad, Ambassador of the State of Israel, on a high-level courtesy visit aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in the education sector.Ambassador Gilad was received by Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah, Minister of Education, together with members of the Ministry’s senior leadership. The visit opened with warm exchanges and a shared commitment to deepening collaboration in support of Liberia’s education and national development agenda.

Minister Jallah extended appreciation to the Government and people of Israel for their longstanding partnership, particularly in the areas of capacity-building and technical assistance. Ambassador Gilad, in turn, commended Liberia’s progress in educational reform and reaffirmed Israel’s support for sustainable, impactful initiatives remarking that “the sky is not the limit.”Discussions focused on strategic priorities including:

1. Teacher Capacity Building: Expanding professional development and training by the end of 2025.

2. Support for Rural Teacher Training Institutes (RTTIs): Strengthening teacher preparation in underserved areas.

3. Community Engagement: Promoting inclusive education in more than 250 schools nationwide.

4. The EXCEL Project: Advancing Liberia’s $119 million national investment in education reform.

5. Digital Transformation: Scaling data-driven systems and digital learning tools.

6. Greening Education: Integrating STEM and environmental education to build climate resilience.

These focus areas are aligned with the Government of Liberia’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development, which identifies education as a cornerstone of national progress.The visit concluded with renewed optimism and a shared vision for a stronger Liberia–Israel partnership, rooted in innovation, inclusion, and resilience in education.
