The President of the Liberian National Bar Association (LNBA) has departed Liberia for the United States of America on a month-long official visit aimed at strengthening ties with American legal institutions and building capacity within Liberia’s legal community. According to a press release issued on September 5, 2025, the LNBA President is expected to hold high-level meetings with several U.S. state bar associations, including the New York City Bar Association, the Colorado Bar Association, and the American Bar Association (ABA) in Washington, D.C. The visit will focus on key areas such as the design and implementation of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) training for Liberian lawyers, improving court infrastructure, and sourcing logistical support like laptops, scanners, and legal texts to be shipped to Liberia.

“This visit represents a significant opportunity for Liberia’s legal profession,” the LNBA President stated. “By expanding cooperation with U.S. bar associations, we aim to enhance professional development, promote adherence to the rule of law, and build stronger institutional capacity for our legal community.” The LNBA considers the mission a critical step toward long-term partnerships that will improve legal practice, ensure judicial independence, and increase access to justice in Liberia.

As part of its broader mandate, the LNBA also announced its support for the recent nomination of Cllr. Varnah as Chairman of the Law Reform Commission by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. The Association praised the appointment as both an honor and a national service call. The LNBA, Liberia’s umbrella organization for lawyers, remains committed to upholding the rule of law and promoting legal integrity across the country.
