The Minister of State for Presidential Affairs and Chief of Staff, Hon. Samuel A. Stevquoah, delivered a powerful and deeply reflective statement during the commissioning ceremony held recently at the Executive Mansion, where he and several other officials were formally entrusted with new national responsibilities by His Excellency President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. Speaking before the President, senior government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, fellow appointees, family, and other distinguished guests, Minister Stevquoah expressed profound gratitude for the confidence reposed in him and his colleagues.
“I am deeply humbled by the trust that Your Excellency has placed in us,” he said, noting that the ceremony marked not just a moment of appointment but “a covenant… a call to duty that demands integrity, discipline, hard work, and absolute loyalty to the nation and its people.” In a solemn moment of reflection, Minister Stevquoah paid homage to the late Hon. Sylvester M. Grigsby, former Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, describing him as a distinguished public servant whose contributions remain etched in the history of Liberia’s governance.
“Less than two years ago, he stood at this very podium,” Stevquoah said. “His contributions to your administration are etched in the history of this and past governments. May his soul rest in peace.” Minister Stevquoah reaffirmed that the appointees fully understand the weight of their responsibilities and the expectations of the Liberian people. He emphasized that their commissioning symbolizes a sacred duty one that calls for character, vision, and unwavering dedication. “Liberia has entrusted us with her future, and we must honor that trust with our actions, our character, and our performance,” he stated.
The Minister praised President Boakai’s thoughtful and prayerful approach to leadership selection, stressing that the President’s decisions were rooted in the conviction that “Liberia deserves its very best.” Stevquoah highlighted Liberia’s critical moment in history, noting that the nation stands at a crossroads requiring decisive and honest leadership. Reflecting on President Boakai’s lifelong journey of service from Foya to Firestone, from Cuttington to the University of Liberia, and onward to national leadership he emphasized that the Liberian people continue to yearn for dignity, action, and genuine commitment. “Our people are yearning for a government that listens. A government that acts.
A government that delivers,” he said. Minister Stevquoah pledged that he and his fellow appointees will uphold professionalism, teamwork, accountability, and transparency. He underscored their readiness to translate the President’s vision into measurable results. “We must move from intention to action, from promises to results, and from vision to implementation. We are ready,” he affirmed. The Minister extended heartfelt appreciation to the families, spouses, parents, children, and supporters who have stood by the appointees throughout their journeys.
“To our families, we say your thank you plenty yah, Thank you for holding us up… Let God mon bless you!” he said warmly. He also emphasized the need for collective national support, calling on citizens to hold the government accountable while also offering prayers and encouragement as the administration works to transform Liberia. The ceremony concluded with a formal toast honoring President Boakai for his leadership, integrity, and commitment to national progress. “To President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. a leader of integrity, vision, and unwavering commitment to the people of Liberia. May God continue to strengthen you and grant you wisdom as you lead our nation toward peace, unity, and prosperity,” Minister Stevquoah said.
