The National Road Fund (NRF) has donated a consignment of road maintenance tools and equipment to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) in support of the Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) Program. The initiative focuses on road maintenance and roadside brushing activities aimed at improving community road networks across Liberia. Making the presentation on behalf of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Mr. Orondo F. Armah, Assistant Minister for Technical Services, handed over the donation to Mr. J. Lavelah Massaquoi, Superintendent of Lofa County. 

The donation included 250 cutlasses, 250 rakes, 125 wheelbarrows, 250 pairs of safety rain boots, 250 gloves, 250 safety vests, 20 road signs, one signboard, and seven motorbikes. Speaking during the ceremony, Mr. John H. Tokpah, Jr., Chief Administrative Officer of the National Road Fund, made remarks on behalf of his institution. He reaffirmed the NRF’s commitment to supporting the government’s efforts in ensuring safer, well-maintained roads through community engagement and local empowerment. 

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the CBOs Program targets ten counties under this phase, including Montserrado, Grand Cape Mount, Bomi, Grand Bassa, Margibi, Bong, Nimba, River Gee, Maryland, and Lofa Counties. The program seeks to empower local communities to take ownership of road maintenance activities, enhance rural connectivity, and promote sustainable development through improved access to markets, schools, and health facilities.
