Monrovia-Liberia, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has called on his cabinet to remain steadfast in their commitment to serving the Liberian people despite mounting criticism and economic pressures. Speaking Friday at a cabinet meeting held at the Executive Mansion, President Boakai emphasized that public service is about sacrifice, resilience, and accountability.

“Public service means you will be insulted even when you do the right thing,” the President said. “But our obligation is to the people of Liberia. That’s why we were called—to rescue this country and make life better for our people.”

The Liberian leader lamented the tough economic conditions ordinary citizens face, particularly the manipulation of market prices and inflation driven by what he described as “selfish agendas.” He warned that some importers continue to exploit the system by bringing in substandard goods and engaging in practices such as “double-dipping” to maximize profits at the expense of ordinary Liberians.

President Boakai underscored the government’s responsibility to protect citizens from such exploitation. “For God in heaven’s sake, our obligation is to our people. We cannot allow rejected products from elsewhere to be dumped on our market,” he stressed.

He also reminded cabinet members that governance requires unity of purpose. “Our actions represent all of us. If something doesn’t go your way, talk about it, but we must act together for the good of the country,” he noted, admonishing Cabinet Members to stay focused on the Government's Rescue Agenda.
