A prominent Liberian businessman, Mr.  Young Kingsley, popularly known as Saah Young, has imported 50 containers of rice into the country. The initiative comes at a time when the cost of Liberia’s staple food is being sold at US $14 per bag, creating concerns among households nationwide. Mr. Kingsley stated that his intervention aims not only to stabilize prices but to also demonstrate a private-sector commitment to the welfare of the Liberian people. “I made a clear and firm promise to bring in 50 containers of rice to stabilize the price of rice on the Liberian market.”

Kingsley said. “My goal is to ensure that every household can afford this staple food.” With the arrival of the shipment, the price of rice is expected to drop to US $13 per bag, making it more affordable for families. Kingsley emphasized that this effort goes beyond price control it reflects a broader commitment to addressing food insecurity and ensuring that Liberians have access to affordable rice. Mr. Kingsley’s rice importation highlights the role of patriotic business leaders in tackling national challenges.

His action aligns with broader calls for public-private cooperation to promote stability in the Liberian economy, especially in critical sectors like food and agriculture. As the 50 containers are distributed through the market in the coming days, Liberians can expect greater availability of rice at reduced prices, marking an important step toward food security and economic relief.
