Nimba County Representative, Nehker Gaye, has refuted recent allegations suggesting that he has been unlawfully deducting staff’s salaries to fund his 2029 re-election campaign. Appearing on the OK Morning Rush, Rep. Gaye dismissed the rumors as baseless and malicious. He firmly denied any involvement in such actions, stating that the accusations were politically motivated and intended to tarnish his reputation. "People will always have something negative to say," Gaye said during the interview. "I don’t want to speak much on it. v Let them ask the staff directly. Salaries are paid into their bank accounts how can I deduct anything from that?"

Gaye continued by stressing that he would not overly defend himself to avoid giving the impression that he is trying to protect his personal image. Instead, he encouraged transparency and direct engagement with the individuals allegedly affected stating that the staff themselves are in the best position to confirm the truth and made it clear he had no intention of defending himself unnecessarily. He highlighted the developmental work underway in District #5 under his leadership, referencing key projects, including the long-promised construction of a new City Hall, as part of his commitment to delivering on campaign promises.

The Nimba County Lawmaker also boasted of using portion of his salary had been going towards developmental projects .and how he has also lobbied around to secure funds for the projects. While the allegations may have stirred brief controversy, Rep. Gaye’s response signals a leadership grounded in accountability rather than political theatrics. With development projects ongoing and no credible evidence presented against him, the Representative Gaye said he remains focused on delivering results rather than engaging in public distractions.
