The citizens of River Gee County have agreed to support the fight against drugs in the County. According to our Correspondent, the River Gee citizens also pledged to work along with the Local Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency Office to raid ghettos across the County without fear or favor.
They gave assurance on Friday, September 5, 2025 in Fish Town at the official launch of Anti-Drugs Campaign by River Gee County Superintendent, Mark T. Swengbe. Speaking at the ceremony, Superintendent Swengbe said the initiative is intended to raise adequate awareness on the dangers of drugs and combat the growing drug addiction in the County and Liberia at large.
The River Gee County Superintendent called on parents, teachers, church, community and youth leaders, to educate their members to support the County’s Anti-Drugs Campaign. Making remarks at the ceremony, River Gee County Youth President, Prince N. Weadatu, hailed the elders, women and young people and the joint security their support and presence at the launch.
Mr. Weadatu said his organization will set up surveillance groups tasked with the responsibility to identify and share surveillance information with the LDEA for prompt and decisive action against drug dealers and users in the county. The Anti-Drugs Campaign began with a parade in several towns, with united elders, women, youths and Local County authorities in attendance, pledging their support to build a drug-free River Gee.
