The Student Unification Party (SUP) has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the defence of integrity and the fight against corruption in all its forms. At the forefront of our demands is the immediate suspension of indicted officials of Lofa County University, following the recent scathing report released by the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC). The report has exposed rampant corruption, financial mismanagement, and abuse of power within the university’s leadership. Those indicted include Dr. Isaac P. Podah, President of Lofa County University; Mr. Danwolo B.S. Katakaw, Vice President for Administration; Bishop Victor Padmore, Board Chairman; Madam Annie Flomo, Co-chair of the Board of Trustees, and all other implicated officials.
SUP asserts that their suspension is non-negotiable pending full and transparent judicial proceedings. To allow these individuals to remain in office is to risk further tampering with the investigative process and to undermine public trust. The Lofa University, an institution meant to nurture minds and foster progress, cannot be desecrated by corruption that robs students, citizens, and the nation of its future. SUP therefore calls on the Government of Liberia, the Ministry of Education, the National Commission on Higher Education, and all relevant authorities to act swiftly in implementing the LACC’s recommendations. A thorough, independent investigation must be pursued to cleanse the University of Corruption and restore its credibility as a centre of learning and hope. In keeping with the principles of discipline and accountability, SUP also announces the immediate suspension of Comrade Vamuyan Kanneh from the party, with an indefinite ban from all party discussions and activities.
This decision comes as a necessary measure to safeguard the values of the party and ensure that its objectives are pursued with consistency and integrity. At the same time, SUP stands firmly in solidarity with the family of the late Moisema Yarkpawolo and the people of Lofa in demanding justice. We condemn in the strongest possible terms the continued counter-productive actions of the Unity Party government in handling this case. The absence of progress reflects a disturbing weakness in Liberia’s justice system. SUP therefore demands the immediate arrest of Bob Jackson, former Lofa County Police Commander, and all officers on duty on January 6, 2025, when Brother Yarkpawolo tragically lost his life. Justice delayed is justice denied, and this case is a test of the government’s commitment to the rule of law and the protection of its citizens. SUP warns that failure to act swiftly risks deepening public disillusionment and undermining national stability.
Therefore, SUP issues a 72-hour ultimatum to President Joseph Nyuma Boakai to suspend Dr. Podah and the other implicated officials. Failure to do so will compel the Student Unification Party to embark on unspecified revolutionary actions in defence of justice and accountability. The Student Unification Party at Lofa County University, Free Pentecostal University, and high schools across Lofa also vowed to remain vigilant in mobilizing students and the masses of the Liberian people. Our struggle continues until justice is served, corruption is uprooted, and Liberia’s institutions are restored to serve the interests of the people rather than the greed of the few. In conclusion, SUP reiterates its steadfast commitment to the principles of transparency, accountability, good governance, academic freedom, and justice. We call on all Liberians—students, workers, and citizens—to join us in demanding accountability from our leaders and in building a society where the rule of law prevails and corruption is no longer
