The ruling Unity Party (UP) on Saturday, November 22, demonstrated its organizational strength and expanding national appeal by staging a massive community cleanup exercise in Monrovia, while officially welcoming the crossover of former Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) member Karishma Pelham-Raad into its ranks.

The sanitation exercise, held around the party’s national headquarters in Congo Town and surrounding communities, drew hundreds of enthusiastic partisans in what organizers described as one of the largest grassroots mobilizations in recent months. Representing the President of Liberia, Vice President Jeremiah Koung delivered remarks on behalf of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, commending supporters for their discipline, unity, and civic consciousness.

“President Boakai sends his greetings and appreciation to all of you,” Koung announced. “He reminds us that our campaign must remain clean, peaceful, and focused on service. This exercise today is proof that the Unity Party is a party of action and responsibility.” His message was met with loud cheers and chants of solidarity from the energized crowd. Following the Vice President’s remarks, Unity Party National Chairman Luther Tarpeh praised the overwhelming turnout, describing the cleanup as a testament to the party’s readiness to lead with integrity and purpose.

“This cleanup is more than sanitation; it is a demonstration of our unity and readiness as a party,” Tarpeh said. “We are showing Liberia that the Unity Party is organized, responsible, and prepared to lead.” The atmosphere around the party headquarters was electrifying, with supporters dressed in party colors, waving flags, and chanting slogans that reflected their renewed sense of commitment. The event also blended civic engagement with political solidarity, giving the day both a festive and purposeful character. A major highlight of the day came when Karishma Pelham-Raad, a prominent figure previously aligned with the CDC, officially declared her membership in the Unity Party. Her crossover drew thunderous applause and heightened excitement among partisans.

“I have come to the Unity Party because I believe in the vision of President Boakai and the leadership of this team,” Pelham-Raad announced. “This is where I belong, and I am ready to contribute to building a stronger Liberia through the UP.” UP Secretary General Amos Tweh reinforced the message of collective strength, noting that the day’s activities symbolized the Party’s deep connection with its grassroots supporters.

“Today’s cleanup shows that our strength lies in our people,” Tweh remarked. “Every broom, every shovel, every hand at work is a sign of commitment to the Unity Party and to Liberia.” Beyond the cleanup and the major political crossover, the program featured musical performances, cultural dances, and motivational messages from youth and women leaders. A recognition ceremony was held to honor long-serving partisans whose dedication has contributed to the party’s resilience and growth over the years. The event also included a vibrant fundraising drive aimed at supporting upcoming community development initiatives.

The fundraising effort drew strong participation and further energized supporters, reinforcing the Unity Party’s message of unity, volunteerism, and service. Saturday’s activities underscored the Unity Party’s intention to remain a central force in Liberia’s political landscape. By combining civic duty with political engagement, the party highlighted its commitment to responsible governance and community service. Karishma Pelham-Raad’s accession into the UP not only strengthened its momentum but also signaled the party’s growing attractiveness to influential figures across the political spectrum.

The impressive turnout and enthusiastic participation reflected a party firmly grounded in its base, capable of mobilizing crowds, attracting new supporters, and sustaining its message of national renewal. The Unity Party continues to position itself as not only the ruling party but also as a broad, inclusive movement dedicated to consolidating power, promoting unity, and shaping the future of Liberia.
