In a decisive move to fast-track the construction of a new national headquarters for the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), following the demolition of the party’s previous office by the Government of Liberia, former President and Standard Bearer George Manneh Weah has formally announced the establishment of the CDC National Headquarters Construction Committee. The 23-member Committee, which brings together senior partisans and trusted allies of the former President, has been tasked with overseeing the planning, mobilization, and execution of the project to ensure that the new facility is delivered within one year. The Committee is chaired by Hon. Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, with Hon. Nathaniel F. McGill, former Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, serving as Co-Chairman. Former Foreign Minister Amb. Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah, Sr. has been designated as Advisor, while Hon. Eugene Lenn Nagbe, will serve as the General Coordinator. Other members include:

  • Madam Yvette Freeman
  • Mr. Quiwu Pepci Yeke
  • Mr. John Youbuty (Treasurer)
  • Dr. Marie Scott-Wilson
  • Mr. Kyne Oliver Kyne
  • Madam Ruth Cooker Collins (Technical Advisor)
  • Mr. Yayah T. Sheriff
  • Famatta Wesseh (Secretary)
  • Emmanuel Ticonti Tutu Swen
  • Cllr. Garrison Yealu
  • Jurah A. M. Sanoe
  • Mr. Roosevelt Johnson Jr.
  • Mr. Michael Andrew Massaquoi

  • Sriyah Musu Isodjee (Women’s League)
  • Isaac Doe
  • Samuel A. Wlue
  • Manneh George
  • Ariminty Tubman
  • Abraham Askie

 The former President emphasized that the Committee holds full authority to form sub-committees where necessary to ensure broad participation and efficient implementation of the project. According to Mr. Weah, the CDC has continued to receive overwhelming goodwill and support from Liberians at home and abroad since the demolition of its headquarters, which he described as a politically motivated action by the government. He noted that these acts have further strengthened the resolve of the CDC family to remain united and to build a stronger base of operations for its future activities. To ensure transparency and accountability in the fundraising process, the Committee will open a designated bank account, the details of which will be made public. Multiple payment methods will also be introduced to accommodate contributions from partisans, sympathizers, and well-meaning Liberians across the globe. Meanwhile, the former President and Standard Bearer has directed Chairman Janga Augustus Kowo to convene a press conference in the coming days to address several critical issues, including:

  • The violent invasion and demolition of the CDC headquarters;
  • The alleged illegal abduction of some partisans during the incident;
  • The pending legal challenges before the courts of Liberia regarding the matter.

The establishment of the Construction Committee marks a renewed phase in the CDC’s resilience and determination to preserve its legacy, even amidst political challenges. The party has called on all its members, sympathizers, and the general public to rally support toward the swift completion of its new headquarters as a symbol of unity, progress, and unwavering commitment to democratic values.
