A 32-year-old woman has been formally charged with Aggravated Assault and Child Endangerment following a disturbing incident in New Georgia, Gardnersville, that left a 10-year-old girl seriously injured. According to the Liberia National Police (LNP) Women and Children Protection Section, the suspect, identified as Eve Wamah, allegedly used a sharp object to wound the child, Georgina Favor Johnny, slicing her right index finger in an act described by investigators as “serious bodily harm.”

The incident occurred on September 2, 2025, within the same community where both the victim and the suspect reside. Wamah was quickly apprehended by Community Officer Georgia Rarnor Johnson and formally charged under Section 14.20 (Aggravated Assault) and Section 16.6 of Chapter 16 (Child Endangerment) of the Liberian Penal Code.

The case has since been forwarded to court, where the suspect is expected to face legal proceedings. Authorities have not disclosed additional details regarding the motive or circumstances surrounding the attack, as the investigation remains ongoing. Child rights advocates have strongly condemned the alleged assault, calling for swift legal action to ensure justice for the young victim. They emphasized the importance of protecting children from all forms of violence and holding offenders accountable under Liberian law.

The Liberia National Police reiterated its commitment to safeguarding children and vulnerable persons across the country. The LNP appeals to the public to remain vigilant and report any acts of violence or abuse to the nearest police station or the Women and Children Protection Section to prevent similar incidents in the future. Authorities stressed that this case serves as a reminder of the critical need for community cooperation, responsible supervision of children, and strict adherence to the law. The LNP assured the public that it will continue to pursue all legal avenues to ensure that justice is served for Georgina Favor Johnny and other young victims across Liberia.
