Aggrieved Employees of Transport Ministry Petition U.S. Embassy Over Controversial LTM Concession Deal

A group of aggrieved employees of the Ministry of Transport are expected to formally petition the United States Embassy in Monrovia over the controversial concession agreement involving Liberia Traffic Management Incorporated (LTMI). The employees, led by Africanous M. Fahnbulleh, Director of Inspection at the Ministry of Transport, are raising concerns about the legitimacy and transparency of the LTMI deal. Speaking to reporters, Mr. Fahnbulleh disclosed that the petition names six high-ranking government officials allegedly linked to the concession. Those listed include:

  • Senator Saah Joseph
  • Senator Zoe Pennue
  • Representative Bernard Benson Blue
  • Representative James Kolleh
  • Minister of Justice, Cllr. Natu O. Tweh
  • Inspector General of Police, Col. Gregory Coleman

According to the employees, the decision to petition the U.S. Embassy comes as part of a broader campaign to ensure international awareness and scrutiny of what they describe as a “controversial and questionable” agreement. Just weeks ago, the same group staged a protest on the grounds of the Capitol Building, calling on the National Legislature to intervene. In response, lawmakers have since placed a hold on the disputed LTMI concession agreement pending further review. The petitioners are now scheduled to meet with representatives of the U.S. Embassy, where they intend to formally present their grievances and seek dialogue on potential avenues for redress. Mr. Fahnbulleh emphasized that the move to engage the Embassy reflects the employees’ desire for accountability, transparency, and protection of Liberia’s public interest. “We believe this matter warrants the attention of both national and international partners,” he said. The unfolding development adds another layer of tension to the already heated debate surrounding the LTMI concession, with stakeholders now closely monitoring how the government and its international partners will respond.
