In a significant boost to its mission of healing and empowerment, the Center for Rehabilitation & Reintegration (CFRR) is pleased to announce the receipt of a $10,000 USD grant from the Sentheyee Fund of the Gbowee Peace Foundation Africa (GPFA). The Sentheyee Fund is part of a larger $20 million commitment made in 2024 by Philanthropist Melinda French Gates, aimed at supporting organizations that champion women’s health and well-being across Africa. CFRR was selected as one of the distinguished grantees in recognition of its pioneering work in rehabilitating women and girls affected by drug addiction and substance abuse in Liberia. This grant is earmarked specifically for infrastructure expansion, enabling CFRR to renovate and enlarge its current rehabilitation facility in Monrovia. The expansion will significantly increase the organization’s residential capacity allowing more women to access its trauma-informed recovery programs, including detoxification, psychotherapy, counseling, and community reintegration services. “This grant is not just an investment in our facility; it is an investment in the future of the women we serve,” said the CFRR Executive Director. “We are deeply grateful to Nobel Laureate Ms. Leymah Gbowee, the Gbowee Peace Foundation Africa, and the Melinda Gates Foundation for believing in our vision of a Liberia where every woman battling addiction has access to the care, dignity, and support needed to recover and thrive.” Founded in 2021, CFRR is a registered non-profit organization operating in both Liberia and the United States. Its mission is to provide holistic, evidence-based rehabilitation services to support the healing and empowerment of vulnerable women, particularly those impacted by addiction and trauma. This support will not only help CFRR to expand its reach but also further its commitment to transparency, accountability, and community-driven healing.
