Dep. Amb. of Sierra Leone Visits Liberia’s Internal Affairs Minister to Address Concerns over Q Net Operations

In a move aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation and addressing pressing cross-border concerns, the Deputy Ambassador of the Republic of Sierra Leone to Liberia, Amb. Kallon, paid a courtesy visit to Hon. Francis Sakila Nyumalin, Liberia’s Minister of Internal Affairs, on Monday, July 7, 2025, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Monrovia. The visit focused heavily on the controversial operations of Q Net, a business entity whose activities have raised alarms in both Sierra Leone and Liberia. During the meeting, Ambassador Kallon expressed grave concerns about Q Net’s alleged involvement in deceptive business practices, which he stated have victimized numerous Sierra Leonean citizens. Ambassador Kallon noted that Q Net has come under significant scrutiny in Sierra Leone, where it has been accused of operating fraudulent schemes under the guise of employment and investment opportunities. He urged the Liberian government to take proactive steps to monitor and regulate the company’s activities within its borders to prevent further exploitation of vulnerable individuals and maintain peace and security in the region. In his response, Minister Nyumalin thanked the Deputy Ambassador for his candid engagement and acknowledged the seriousness of the issue. He assured Ambassador Kallon that the Ministry of Internal Affairs takes the concerns seriously and will act accordingly. “The well-being of all residents in Liberia, including our brothers and sisters from the Mano River Union, remains a top priority,” said Minister Nyumalin. “We will coordinate with the Ministry of Justice and other relevant agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into Q Net’s operations and take the necessary legal and administrative steps to address any violations.” Minister Nyumalin further emphasized the importance of regional collaboration in confronting transnational challenges that threaten public safety and social stability. He assured that Liberia remains committed to maintaining its long-standing ties with Sierra Leone and will continue to engage in meaningful dialogue to ensure mutual protection of citizens' rights and interests. The meeting concluded with a mutual agreement to maintain open channels of communication and cooperation between the two governments, particularly in matters concerning migration, public safety, and cross-border economic activities.
