As part of ongoing efforts to enhance road infrastructure across the southeastern region of Liberia, Deputy Minister for Rural Development, Hon. Prince Tambah, today led a team of engineers and senior officials from the Ministry of Public Works on an inspection of the Greenville to Buchanan Road Corridor. The inspection team included Assistant Minister for Operations, Madam Margaret Sarsih, and Assistant Minister for Technical Services, Mr. John Zogar, as well as technical experts and engineers from the Ministry. The approximately 200-kilometer corridor, which stretches from Buchanan in Grand Bassa County to Greenville in Sinoe County, has been assessed as pliable, with several critical spots either rehabilitated or undergoing maintenance. Among the key areas highlighted during the tour were: “Welcome to ITI” Palm Butter Hill One House And other critical segments along the corridor Speaking during the inspection, Deputy Minister Tambah emphasized that the exercise is part of a nationwide stabilization effort targeting major road corridors in anticipation of heavier-than-usual rainfall forecasted for the second half of the year. “These assessments are not just routine. They are urgent steps we are taking to ensure that our people in the southeast are not cut off during the peak of the rainy season,” he said. “Maintaining pliable road access is critical to commerce, healthcare access, and national security.” In addition to the Greenville–Buchanan road corridor, the inspection team also visited key structural projects currently being implemented by the Ministry’s Bridge Unit. Jones Bridge in Seebeh Community The road stretch from Gharbo Town to Sanquin These infrastructure developments are aimed at improving mobility, increasing resilience against seasonal weather conditions, and ensuring year-round access to remote communities. Deputy Minister Tambah lauded the efforts of the Bridge Unit and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure development, particularly in rural and underserved areas. The tour forms part of the Ministry of Public Works' broader mission under the leadership of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai to connect all parts of Liberia with durable, safe, and accessible roads and bridges.
